Legendary Performer Fatman Scoop Passes Away at 53 During Connecticut Concert

Fatman Scoop, widely recognized as the “undisputed voice of the club,” passed away after reportedly collapsing during a concert on Friday night in Connecticut.

His family confirmed his death in an Instagram post on Saturday. He was 53 years old.

“It is with profound sadness and very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the legendary and iconic Fatman Scoop,” the post on his Instagram page read. “Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light both on stage and in life.”

The rapper and hype man, whose real name was Isaac Freeman III, was performing at the Green and Gold Party summer concert in Hamden, located about six miles from New Haven, when he experienced a medical emergency on stage.

Hamden’s mayor, Lauren Garrett, stated that he was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

In a statement on Saturday, Garrett expressed gratitude to the crowd members and paramedics who attempted to save his life.

“On behalf of the Town of Hamden, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Isaac Freeman, known as Fatman Scoop,” she shared on Facebook. “He was a remarkable performer with a devoted following, as evidenced by the thousands of fans who came to witness what would be his final performance at Hamden Town Center Park.”
